A Dynamite Tutorial: How to Create a Fake Bomb

Hey, guys! Welcome to this week's episode of Parker's tutorials. This week, we're going to take our trusty hot glue gun and some cardboard, and make something that you requested. And that is a fake bomb...

 

- cardboard tubing, flat cardboard

- a hot glue gun

- red and brown paint

- miscellaneous wires, nuts and bolts

- an X-acto knife

- an egg timer

- masking tape

 

Let's get building...the first step in this project is to cut out 5 four-inch long tubes. Then, trace the (circular) end of one of the tubes on cardboard, and cut it out. Take that circle cutout and make 9 more of them (by tracing and cutting). Then hot glue a circle on each end of the cardboard tubes to close them up. When this is done, take strips of masking tape and wrap them around the 2 ends of each tube, so that the tape covers the corrugated edges of the circle cutouts. Corrugation is that stuff in the middle of the cardboard layers that look like bars...

 

The next step is to paint the tubes a dark-brownish red color. For added effect, mix some sand or dirt into the paint. This will give the bomb a rough texture. Then let the tubes dry. After the tubes are dry, take them and hot glue them all together into a pyramid shape: 3 tubes in one bottom layer, and the remaining 2 tubes centered together as the top layer, like this (1:44). Once the glue is dry, take 2 long strips of masking tape and tape around all of the (bonded) tubes in two places: one centimeter from the bottom of tube length, and 1 cm from the top of it.

 

Once that's done, it's time to add some details. Hot glue a 9-volt battery to the side of the tube pack. Then glue an egg timer on the front of the pack. On the top of the pack (where the circle cutouts rest), add bolts and then string wires from inside the bolts to the space behind the egg timer. This will make it look like the timer will start the detonation. After that, you're done...

 

Make sure not to go out in public with this bomb, because people may think it's real; don't be stupid, okay? I hope you enjoyed this...Bye!!
